Meatless Monday= Buffalo Cauliflower Wings

Waking up this morning in Los Angeles and planning the day around vegan bistros and the beach is perfect, but unfortunately not a reality everyday. However, I was inspired to share a piece about how you can bring restaurant quality food into everyday life. This morning I went to Sage Vegan Bistro in Echo Lake, Los Angeles and ordered the buffalo, cauliflower wings. Yes, vegan, gluten free, wings!

They were so crispy with the perfect amount of spice, cut with a nice sour zing from the hot sauce. It reminded me of when I was inspired to make my own after seeing them on 365 Food Addiction. So this Meatless Monday, (apologies for the late post, I blame limited wifi and timezones), you can bring restaurant quality home.

Here’s the homemade version:


1 head of cauliflower
1 cup brown rice flour
1 cup almond milk
2 Tablespoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 Tablespoons nutritional yeast

Pre heat the oven to 400 degrees F
Cut or break the cauliflower into florets
Combine all dry ingredients and whisk, set in a medium bowl and set aside
Pour the almond milk in a bowl and set next to the dry ingredients
Dip each piece of cauliflower, one at a time in the milk and then flour mixture
Set on a greased pan and bake for 10 minutes, flip and bake for 10 more.
When crispy, take out and coat with your favorite hot sauce, serve with a dipping sauce, something to balance the heat, like a cool vegan mayo or ranch. Add carrots and celery sticks of course and enjoy!
