Extra, extra! The Cinnamon Snail has won the Vendy Awards yet again! I don’t think there is a food truck foodie that would disagree! I have featured the Snail before, but after their new award addition and a recent trip there, the flavors called for me to write again!
It was rainy New York City afternoon and after battling midtown traffic I made it to the Snail with minutes before they closed their truck window and headed back to New Jersey. Whoa, I was so excited to make it, my eyes jumped from donuts, to raspberry bars, salad and sandwich options. I decided to try something new and went with the Portobello Carpaccio on gluten free bread. (Yes, bread, not salad, yippee!) The mushrooms where sliced thin with smooth, earthy textures. They were dotted along the bread and smothered between caramelized onions, a fig lemon and mustard dressing and spicy arugula flavors. One bite was better than the next as the sandwich quickly disappeared from my hands and danced in my belly.
Next up, was a chocolate, maple, almond donut because when you say vegan, gluten free donut, I say yes!
I was reminded again about how good the Snail is and their amazing charge to bring great vegan food to the streets of NYC. There is also currently a great write up on Adam Sobel in VegNews in the October issue to learn more about the truck and A Day in the Life.
Congrats to them on their new Vendy Award and if you’re near the city or Red Bank, NJ, pay them a visit, say hello, order some great eats, your belly will thank you!
Have a favorite veg friendly food truck near you? I want to hear about it!
