Feature Friday- The Green Bean, Upper East Side

It is very rare I come across a vegetarian cafe in New York City that I don’t know about. This week I am featuring a quaint vegetarian cafe on the Upper East Side.  Enter The Green Bean; with a Californian vibe that makes you feel like you are in sunny Berkeley rather than New York it is a perfect pit stop for any time of day.

The colorful storefront stands out against the drab concrete of York Avenue and is just the pop of color you need to catch your eye and bring you into their delicious little world.

The menu is vast with endless flavor combinations, sandwiches, pizzas, hot bar, soups, salad bar and more.

I drooled as I read the menu, but in the end I am a sucker for a gluten free bagel sandwich and a smoothie, especially when the bagel are Sweet Note (check out my bagel page dedicated just to them!)
The above bagel wasn’t even on the menu, but I asked for a toasted bagel with tofu cream cheese, red onion, tomato and avocado and it was amazing! Messy to eat, but I wouldn’t want a bagel any other way.
Maybe they will even name this combo after me! 😉

I used to pass over York Avenue without a thought, now I will plan many a trips via The Green Bean.

I can’t wait to eat my way through their menu!

PS They have amazing looking vegan and gluten free muffins, why didn’t I get one for the road?

In NYC, head over and let me know what you order?
Not in NY, but have a favorite veggie cafe near you? I  would love to hear about it.

TGIF and Happy Eating!
