This weekend I was pleasantly surprised when I found a new vegan cheese. Kite Hill is a game changer. From buying it in the actually cheese section, separate counters, but still a pleasant experience, to the wooden box it comes in and the careful wrapping, the whole process was enjoyable. There was the little bit of, ‘is this going to be any good’ concern on the drive home, but also mixed with excitement of the unknown and new product! My husband advised not to try a new recipe when we were having friends over, so the new hard cheese made an appearance on a Saturday night in. It went like this…
Open the cheese and poke holes in the top
*note* The slice missing was a must have a taste first moment!
Pour white wine over the top, slowly as you ensure it is absorbed
Cover in foil, gather at the top to make a slight seam pouch and bake for about 20 minutes
Uncover and serve
This was a great find, not to mention delicious! Nice to know there are some real great vegan cheese making going on, thank you Kite Hill!
Vegans: We can stop whining about wine and cheese…
